AANP Government Update
Buprenorphine Prescription Training Courses Available
AANP, in partnership with the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) and the American Academy of PAs (AAPA), is now offering free training courses that will allow NPs and PAs to prescribe buprenorphine, an opioid medication used to treat opioid addiction. According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), NPs and PAs who complete the required training and seek to prescribe buprenorphine for up to 30 patients will be able to apply for a waiver to do so early this year. Please watch for updates on this issue. For more information, please read the AANP Press Release.
