LEGISLATIVE SESSION CONCLUDES

Posted over 6 years ago by Derek Leffert

The 2019 legislative session officially ended today at 6pm after what many consider to be a session fraught with inter party turmoil that impacted the session in significant ways.

For APRN’s, this session saw the Telehealth sunset repealed in multiple bills, the APRN license nearly crossing the finish line, an overwhelmingly supportive vote in the House of removing the mileage restrictions on NP’s working in pregnancy resource centers, and successfully fending off efforts to place APRN’s under the Board of Healing Arts.

Although we hoped to achieve more, the momentum continues to build behind Missouri’s NP’s, as numerous bills saw broad based bipartisan support from elected officials throughout the state.

Very special thanks to Reps. Hannah Kelly, Nick Schroer, and Kathy Swan as well as Sens. Eric Burlison and Cindy O’Laughlin. These legislators were steadfast supporters of Missouri’s NP’s this session, and they all deserve our appreciation for their willingness to carry APRN legislation.

A full session review will be sent to AMNP members next week and we’ll discuss the 2019 legislative session in depth at the AMNP Annual Conference.

In the meantime, please continue to reach out and visit with your legislators in district and let them know how onerous laws and regulations are impacting your ability to fully care for your patients.

Thank you to all of you who called, emailed, or visited with your elected officials this session. We have more work to do and we’ll need you to fight alongside us.
