Attached is the legislative update for Week #18 of the legislative session. This was the second to last week of the regular session.
With time running out, the final week will either be unusually quiet or extraordinarily busy. Please pay close attention to any Call to Action emails that we may send this week as things will happen extremely fast and we may need you to make calls or emails in the final days.
A full session report will be provided the week of May 18th with a full analysis on the 2020 session and what's ahead for Missouri's NP's.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to us at nursepractitioners@missourinps.org.

Dear Colleagues,
As you are aware, medical marijuana dispensaries will be opening soon in Missouri. As the law currently stands, only “physicians” can complete the Physician Certification Form (PCF) for patients with qualifying medical conditions as defined in 19 CSR 30-95.010.
Can we petition to have this rule changed so that Nurse Practitioners can also recommend medical marijuana for qualifying patients? It is customary in other states for “providers” (MD, DO, NP, PA) to complete the medical certification form. Keep in mind that providers are not prescribing medical marijuana, but are recommending medical marijuana for qualifying patients.
Provisions for the regulation of medical marijuana are within Article XIV of the Missouri Constitution and the rules in 19 CSR 30-95. You can find Article XIV, complete rules, answers to frequently asked questions, and other information regarding the Medical Marijuana Program by visiting the website at https://medicalmarijuana.mo.gov.
Thank you,
Andrew Gucciardo, MSN, APRN, AGPCNP-BC
