WANT THE UNNECESSARY RULES TO STAY SUSPENDED? WE NEED YOUR HELP

Posted about 4 years ago by Derek Leffert

As most of you know, AMNP and our partner associations worked diligently to suspend restrictive rules at the onset of the COVID 19 pandemic. Working with Governor Parson, we were able to secure the suspension of geographic proximity, chart reviews, one-month collaboration period, and other helpful initiatives. In addition to the initial suspensions, we have remained actively engaged in all subsequent extensions. As you know better than many others, the pandemic is not over.

As of now, the rule suspensions that have been in place since March of 2020 are set to expire on August 31st. In our conversations with Governor Parson's office, they indicated that they have not heard from enough NPs that the suspensions were helpful despite AMNP forwarding 5 direct messages to their office that we received from the first time we requested the input from our members. IF WE ARE TO HAVE ANY SHOT AT A CONTINUED SUSPENSION OF RULES, YOUR INPUT IS ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL.

We believe that a continued suspension is necessary, especially given the surges seen as a result of the delta variant in many communities across Missouri. Allowing the suspensions to expire could exacerbate the spikes and place an unnecessary burden on health care providers and patients. As such, we believe a further extension is warranted and we need YOUR help.

To help us continue to advocate for you, we need to hear from you how these suspensions have helped you as a provider, and more importantly, your patients. We will forward the additional stories that we gather to Gov. Parson to demonstrate to him how impactful these suspensions have been and how catastrophic it would be to allow them to expire. Please consider taking a few minutes of your time to email us a quick story (or stories) about how this has affected your practice and how the expiration will affect you.

You can email your perspective on the suspensions to us at nursepractitioners@missourinp.org

Thank you in advance for taking time to help out. We are grateful to you for all that you continue to do for your patients and communities.
