Call to Action

Posted about 2 years ago by Carla Jeanne Moore Beckerle

Please email Governor Parson to sign our bills into law. That is the final step in the legislative process. While we expect him to sign the bills, since he is such a strong supporter of nurses,  reach out to his office and encourage him to sign these bills.

PLEASE call or email his office regarding House Bill 402, Senate Bill 70, House Bill 115, and Senate Bill 157. All of these contain the APRN compromise language.  House Bill 402  has the surgical smoke language.

You can reach out to the Governor’s office by phone: (573) 751-3222 or using this contact form: https://governor.mo.gov/contact-us/mo-governor

Governor Parson has until July 14th to sign or veto these bills.

Our second challenge for the legislative off-season is having in-person meetings with our state representatives and senators. Please reach out to their offices and ask to meet with them in their district.

Please thank the legislators for their support this session and ask they continue to support nurses and our legislative priorities next year. There is still substantial progress we want to make to ensure APRNs can practice to the full extent of their education and training. Please continue talking to legislators about how APRNs are a key part of addressing the current healthcare crisis in Missouri. (There continues to be a shortage of both primary care providers and mental healthcare providers, and APRNs are ready to help solve this problem but are held back by unnecessary and burdensome regulations).
